The mountains went well. On thru Oregon and into WA. Rain thru the Snoqualmie Pass, but warm and beat the big storm expected this evening. Drove into Anacortes about 5 PM. Unloaded the truck by 7, thanks to Cassady and Noah. 3000 miles in six days, avg 500/day and we weren't pushing. Lot's of stops. Mostly for GAS. 25 cents a mile in gas. Dang truck was doing good anytime it got much over 5 MPG. However, it never faltered, pulled like a champ (except going uphill) and never gave a lick of trouble, nor did the trailer setup. Glad to be home. A few boxes to put away. . .
Once things get settled a bit, we'll post an organized picture page.

A day of mostly driving. Out of Utah and into Idaho. Lunch in Jerome, Idaho, a lively place. And on into Oregon. Stopped when we got to the mountains. We'll tackle those in the daylight.

We found our way to the courthouse in Glenwood Springs, CO. and signed the appropriate documents at 10:10 AM. Judge Zierbe said the appropriate words, and Ann and David are married. Evelyn was the witness, the ring bearer, and the photographer. We celebrated with the first decent espresso in days and then drove to Salt Lake City, crossing the mountains at about nine thousand feet. This was the best day!

Got a good start out of Ogallala, after installing a CB two way radio for the trip thru the Rocky Mntns. By 9:40 AM we were breakfasted and on the road. By 2:30 we were in the Rockies! The GMC 55000 could only manage 30 MPH on the uphill grades. This is a V10 motor, but at 10,000 feet, it was struggling. But over the two high passes we went. Loveland Pass, and Vail. We are overnighting at Glenwood Springs, about two hours from the western edge of the state. All county and municipal offices were closed this 'Presidents Day'.

Ann Evelyn and David are spending this night in Ogallala, Nebraska, about an hour from Colorado. Our Truck (24' Gmc ) and trailer combination are working great! We are making good progress. Ann and Evie just got out of the indoor pool. Internet connection time is too expensive from here for much 'online time', but here are a couple recent pix, from Dad's before we left, and the last two days that we have been traveling. We left MI at ten AM Sat the 15th, driving to just before Des Moines, Iowa that first day, stopping about 9 PM. On the road today by about 9, and quit a little earlier. We stop frequently, and really are not pushing ourselves. We are looking forward to being in Colorado tomorrow!
Stopped at a scenic lookout in Oregon. Had to see why the CB quit. (switch got flipped to 'PA').
This is the plaque, Ev waited in the truck due to cold and wind.
And here is the REAL reason the Evelyn waited in the truck. GAMEBOY!
Home!
We think the animals missed us.
A long day in the truck, but a 'three state' day, the first since last Sat, which was a four state day >
Mi, In, Il. and Iowa. Today was; Utah, Idaho and Oregon.
Fifth day behind the wheel, but we might be in Anacortes by sometime tomorrow!
At our lunch stop in Jerome, Idaho. We added some 'just married' balloons.
Jerome is a small town of mostly Mexicans, and we didn't feel like mexican food, so we parked the truck
and walked past all the fast food joints until we found McClanahan's Irish Tavern and Restaurant.
Evelyn has been a great cross country traveler, here sorting thru her suitcase in the back of the truck.

Happily Married!
Just outside the judges chambers.

In front of the Glenwood Springs Courthouse
We are at a rest stop at the highest pass, Vail, CO., elevation 10,662 feet. Two miles.
We heard the truck ahead of us set off the sirens at a mountain tunnel entrance. His load of PVC
pipe was piled too high! Shades of, 'Me and Earl'!
In the Rockies.
Plenty of snow in Grinnell, Iowa, sat night. Parked at the motel.
Bob, Ann and Evelyn taken on Friday, Valentines Day. We later attached the balloons to the Saab, to
see how long they'd last. The final one went limp Sunday, after two days of freeway driving.
Evelyn, Talia, Ann and Devon, at Dad's.

So many cat pictures! They have their own page, and have been updated. They are no longer kittens, really, although only eleven months old. Some additional (and more recent - 3,19,03) CAT pictures are at: Kitten Antics
