ESPRESSO!

Who would devote an entire page to the remodeling of a kitchen shelf? RIGHT! I would! The kitchen counter didn't have enough space to give up for a large expresso machine, and the machine wouldn't fit under the bottom shelf. So now the shelf goes up and over, and the machine slides in and out. The dang thing must weigh close to twenty pounds, when full of water.

Wow! This page is getting some 'whiskers' (that's RR parlance for seniority). I note this as I finally change to the correct spelling for 'espresso'. Today is Mar. 22, 2007

Here is the thing today, in April, 2005. Since the shelf work was done, the counter was replaced. But the overall idea is still working. In fact, looking at these pictures, the whole kitchen's been redone. Even the cats are small.

First, a section of the bottom shelf was cut out, and the sliders were 'adjusted'. They were made to go under a drawer, but with some attention will serve nicely, in this application.
The bottom shelf has been cut into, and the beginnings of the new shelf are taking shape. The drawer sliders have been cut and modified to serve.
The new shelf now goes up and over the machine, which easily slides in and out on the runners.
Here the expresso machine is in it's cubby. This view gives an idea of the amount of counter space that was regained.
And here is the completed shelf, myself, and two kittens.
The finished product. Approved by cats. They haven't figured out how to gain the counter, YET!
