Monthly Stuff for April, of the photo variety.
So.
Send some pictures!
Here is the proud look, again. the tile is all in, and ready to grout. That wee light (resting on the counter)
is one of Ann's pet projects. Some halogen 'under the counter' lights. More on them in a moment.
This turned out to be quite an endeavor. Several long hours of 'floating' in the grout. Came out OK, tho.
This, after doing a bit of boat varnishing in the morning.
Once the grout is 'in', it's a matter of waiting an hour or so for it to set up in the gaps between tiles,
then striking it off, with a sponge. Then wait, then strike again. Then again. Then begin striking with a
turkish towel, until no more grout comes off. That's the new sink faucet, on the counter. I hasten to point
out that I had plenty of help from Ann!
The proud look, again. Ann's wee lights are finally in place. They are direct wired, and it took a lot of splicing
to neaten up the overall under counter mess. Also a custom bracket and switch, to complete this small 'add-on'.
Electric details: power comes direct to the halogen transformer, and then to the improvised on/off switch. Then to the
three small fixtures. Plenty of under shelf counter light now. This was always a dark area, with the old sink
configuration.
The new Saab is finally getting brake work. I knocked off 1800 bucks from the selling price for this.
Well, and the oil leaks, which are being addressed with new camshaft seals.

Sticking in a bunch of tile pictures.
Evelyn took the first few!
Evelyn is getting to be quite the photographer!
So, how do you cut a curve with a ten inch circular tile saw?
You nip away at it , slowly, 'freehand'.
Ann and Evelyn went to Walmart, I stayed on 'tilewatch', to lift any of several dropping tile, until the adhesive finally
grabbed.

Ann and Fae saw a ballet dress rehersal in Seattle.
Dick and Laura made the news for their 'Lifesaving' adventures in Alaska.
Robert gets a job offer from San Francisco State Univ. He's been retired nearly twenty years!
Very nice to be well remembered!

This cat wants to chew the live wires. . .

A house day. Under the house. In the attic. Trying to get the light over the stove wired. The under the sink drain
stabilized. The counter ready for tile, which may arrive some day.
No tile here, yet, but lots of other things going on. Trying to wire the lights that will hang over the stove,
and hold pots and pans. Wanting to add to the existing outlet. No luck, so far.
From this hole in the ceiling, we hope to hang a fixture that will also hold the pots and pans.
These are the new lights, that will hang from that wee hole, we hope.
The switch that turns the new lights on and off, would ideally go right here, next to the stove.
Getting a wire down through the wall, has been so far, a trial. Fishing a line down thru the wall, isn't proving to be easy.
There is so very little working room in the attic. I should try and get a few pix from upstairs! Note: Amtrak
flashlight on the counter.

Ann has started reloading the cupboards, and reinstalled the cupbords doors.
Anna has gotten a new puppy, as yet unnamed.
Our dining room table is a tad cluttered. . .

Aunt Joan kindly sends pictures of Mom on her birthday (yesterday).
The new counter is finally in place and ready for tile.
And then figure out how to remount this heavy old cast iron sink? I'm thinking
that I'll rent a floor jack?

Easter with Barb, Paul and the family.

Another banner day! 70's and no wind, sunny and warm. So, we busted our butts all day in the house. I did ride
the motorcycle to the hardware. Here are some recent pix, some by Evelyn! This is Ann, feeding Anna's new horse,
'Ellie'. Julius, Anna's 'old' horse, got traded in on this newer model.
Evelyn captured her Mom and I while dining out, a few days ago. She was using my old Olympus 340R.
Tulip time in the great pacific N'west!
Here is Dick, bringing 'Voyageur' into the slip in the marina, after an over night to Friday Harbor (nearby resort type
island) with Laura and the girls, Anna and Evelyn, for crew. The extreme low tides are evident by the exposed sea wall.
Our bird house is getting a prospective tenant?
Here we are discussing that monster sink! Photo by Evie.
Progress in the kitchen - Ann is nearly done painting! Don't you love high ceilings? This is a 'before and after'
kinda' thing. It was Ann's great idea to use the same wainscoating in the back of the exposed upper cupboards. I think
I've already mentioned that there is not a square wall or floor in this whole house. These cupboards were no
exception! There are at least two pieces of panel on each shelf, and four on the upper one. I pride myself that
even standing in the kitchen, you cannot tell this. Ann started re hanging the curtains, today. the re wiring has
also begun. At least in my head. I did install the old kitchen ceiling fixture (four, four foot fluorescents) in
my shed today.

REALLY nice weather. The Honda shop finally ransomed me back my scooter. We continue in the kitchen.

I jumped a day, again.
Late in the day and still at it. All the wainscoating is now in place. Time to take out the old counter.
Sanding, filling, you get it. . .
Ann has been doing all the hard work on the kitchen. She burnt up one electric sander, already!
She has done ALL the sanding, and ALL the painting. I love this woman. . .
Sanding in the back yard workshop.
Cutting the wainscoating for the back of the cupboards.
Anna and Evelyn amidst the clutter of the kitchen stuff, which is stashed all over three or four other rooms.

Need a nice used Saab? That would be the grey one. . .
Evelyn has both sets of braces, now. Top and bottom. This will be a two year ordeal. She is handling it with aplomb.
All three girls, on the way to ballet. Ivey, Talyn, and Evelyn. Last ride in the old Saab?
Pretty classy picture of Fae!
